Tales and Tunes III
Went to Cheekwood again on Thursday night for Tales and Tunes but no child acting was to be done. Merlin the Magician performed and did a wonderful job entertaining a large crowd, the biggest so far. We were fortunate to have attended the first events when the number in attendance was smaller.
Merlin did certainly amuse and delight the young audience. One of the highlights occurred when he wanted to change his “volunteer” into a rabbit. The young boy decided he didn’t want to be changed into a rabbit and said his friend should have a turn at being a “volunteer” and he quickly sat down. The next “victim” only was able to stand it for the first of three magic wand passes and he ran back into the crowd!! A young girl then practically demanded center stage and got it. But as ‘Merlin’ got to magic wand pass number two – the girl demurred and also ran!! Finally, a brave girl in the front row said she would do it. Merlin, taking no chances, skipped passes one and two and immediately did magic wand pass three and from the wand dropped a picture of a rabbit with the head cut out into which Merlin inserted the girl’s head. It was pretty cute and not as scary as the other “volunteers” imagined.
Seen at the Scene -
Spencer in a happy mood but later – quite unhappy!
Ellie before the show.
Gracie is down by the pond after the show. A tragic turn of events here – the hole in the rocks just in front of Gracie holds one of Spencer’s train engines. He was playing and didn’t realize how deep the hole was and ‘gone’ was “Percy!!!” He was frantic and didn’t want to leave until we could get the engine out. He called for his grandfather (nice to be wanted) but grandpa couldn’t help. He called for his dad but he couldn’t help either. One of life’s tough lessons and the fallibility of dads and grandpas!! But, with a promise of further tries next week, Spencer agreed to depart with the rest of us and not spend his days next to the pond with his lost engine.

I love the stories, keep them coming. I hope you can get the train back. I’ve just bought a laptop and now my wireless connection to PC has crashed so I can only use the internet on my laptop or Mom’s PC. The next exciting instalment of Dad’s story will happen shortly.
