And It Really Did…

Janice stopped at the firework stand just outside the city limits of Franklin to buy the Clyde Brooks Memorial supply of explosives! One of the items she purchased was called a Magic Crystal.

Just before dark, and before we were scheduled to depart for a fireworks show, we set off a few of these gems. The first couple were in the shape of race cars and made sufficient noise to frighten small horses, dogs and the grandkids. However, they were game for more. The sparklers were a huge hit, of course, and a seemingly never ending supply kept us busy.

Then, since time was getting short, we switched to the first Magic Crystal – it fired up and spun around and made noise and was fun so naturally we lit another. This one spun around, made noise and then lifted off. It went 30 feet in the air and soared down the street and into the neighbor,s tree. We stood in amazement.

“Wow,” said Spencer.

“That was the best,” said Elle.

“That’s why them call them Magic Crystals,” said Gracie.

Grandpa, recovering from his shock, gathered up the remainder of the explosives and said, “It’s time to go.”

We still have a couple left and, well, look at that! It does say “spins on ground – shoots upward.” Well, it certainly did!!!!

You can be glad the Magic Crystal landed in a neighbor’s tree… unlike the fireworks one of the neighbor kids threw on Witherspoon (Weiss block party) on the 4th—it rolled down another neighbor’s driveway and scorched a hole in the garage door! Ty’s dad will “magically” have to pay.
