Happy Fourth…

We had lunch at the pool, swam and relaxed and checked to see who was taller. We think Gracie is just a little bit taller for the moment.

We had quiet time – Chris went off to work at the Wildhorse – 100,000 people were expected downtown Nashville for all the festivities – and the rest of us had dinner on the deck. However, it did rain. Not a downpour, but a gentle, short-lived rain that bounced off the cover we put down and we still enjoyed the out-of-doors. The dinner of fried chicken, beans, potato salad, deviled eggs and rolls was a spectacular as any fireworks.

Gracie explained the reason for the 4th, was the English didn’t want us to have parades so we did. Chris explained the fourth to the kids right before leaving the house to participate in the Fourth of July parade so….

Spencer was patient with Gracie but then corrected part of what she said, explaining the right reason for the protests and war. At the last minute, he changed the British to the Spanish but went back again. We had been talking about Spain and the fact that Grandpa wants to go there.

Add Spencer – “The reason I know a lot is because I read a lot.”

Good for you. He later stated, “I’m a scientist!” He was commenting on this because we were driving to see the fireworks and how fireworks work and we saw some but the rain itensified and washed out any remaining opprotunity to view more.

It was a good day.  And we will not soon forget that Magic Crystal lifting off the ground, flying high into the air and soaring down the street.
